Nano Banana pricing depends on the service and model. Gemini offers image generation within its app limits, with Google AI Pro listed at $19.99/month in the US. Direct API image output starts at $0.0336 for Nano Banana 2.1 at 1K. On AI Photo Generator, that model costs 2 credits at 1K, 3 at 2K, or 4 at 4K. These are separate billing systems. Prices below were checked October 19, 2026; the official sources are linked beside each table.

Three bills that the Nano Banana name can mean

A Google AI subscription pays for access across Google services. A direct Gemini API request is billed by usage. AI Photo Generator uses its own credits, with a cost for each model and image size.

Start with where you want to make images:

  • Occasional images in a chat: check Gemini’s included access before buying a subscription.
  • Images inside software you are building: use the Gemini API rates and billing settings.
  • Images through this site’s generator: check the selected model’s credit cost and your account balance.

Match the model names, too. Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana 2, and Nano Banana Pro have different rates. A cheaper price for one version does not establish a cheaper price for the whole family.

What does Nano Banana cost in Gemini?

Gemini includes image generation without a separate per-image app charge. Paid Google AI plans expand access, but they do not promise a fixed monthly image count. The US subscription page lists AI Plus at $4.99/month and AI Pro at $19.99/month. (Google’s US subscription prices, checked October 19, 2026.)

Google’s image-generation help distinguishes Nano Banana 2 Lite with Flash-Lite, Nano Banana 2 with Flash or Pro, and Nano Banana Pro for redoing an image with additional detail. Its feature-availability table lists Nano Banana 2 generation across plan levels. Check your selected model rather than assuming every Gemini image uses Pro.

The Google AI plans page also lists AI Studio benefits. Those benefits and app access should be checked separately from a paid API project: Google’s API billing documentation says that using a linked paid API key in AI Studio incurs charges. An app subscription is not unlimited API use.

Google says app limits can change with availability and demand. Compare the plan’s other benefits before subscribing, and check the price offered for your country. Dividing a subscription price by an assumed image quota gives a misleading cost per image.

How much does Google’s API charge per image?

For standard API requests, Google lists the following image-output equivalents. Input, text/thinking output, and applicable grounding charges are additional. These figures are not all-in request totals. (Gemini API pricing, checked October 19, 2026.)

API model1K standard2K standard4K standard1K Batch
Nano Banana 2.1$0.0336$0.0504$0.113$0.0168
Nano Banana 2$0.067$0.101$0.151$0.034
Nano Banana Pro$0.134$0.134$0.24$0.067

Use the standard column for interactive requests; Batch is a separate processing option. Google lists no API free tier for these three image models.

Older guides quote $0.039 for the original Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Google’s pricing page now carries an October 2, 2026 shutdown notice for that model; that historical rate is not a current buying option.

How many credits does AI Photo Generator use?

Nano Banana 2.1 uses 2–4 credits per image on AI Photo Generator, depending on size. Nano Banana 2 and Pro cost more credits at the same listed sizes. The live pricing page gives this schedule, checked October 19, 2026:

Site model1K2K4K
Nano Banana 2.12 credits3 credits4 credits
Nano Banana 24 credits5 credits8 credits
Nano Banana Pro8 credits8 credits10 credits

Premium models require an account and enough credits. Credits can come from the site’s free-credit program, a plan, or a credit pack; they have no universal dollar conversion. Review the selected cost on AI Photo Generator before generating.

The AI photo editor supports an uploaded-image workflow. The AI headshot generator provides a portrait prompt starting point. Tool pages prefill the prompt box; the prompt you submit goes to the selected model as typed. Choose the model and size for either workflow before estimating credits.

How should you budget for a second attempt?

Budget for every completed image you request, including variations you decide not to keep. At the listed Nano Banana 2.1 1K rate, one image is 2 credits and two are 4 credits. The two outputs below illustrate that choice; they do not measure a site account debit or compare Google’s output quality with this site’s.

Both saved runs used Nano Banana 2.1, 1K, 1:1, with this exact text prompt and no reference photo:

Photorealistic portrait of a fictional adult ceramic artist aged 40, wearing an olive work shirt and charcoal apron, holding a plain handmade bowl in a softly lit pottery studio. Entire head visible, natural skin texture, no text, logos, or watermark.

Attempt 1 — Nano Banana 2.1, 1K, 1:1. The artist looks down at the bowl; the entire head is visible.

Second Nano Banana 2.1 1K output: different fictional ceramic artist facing the camera and holding a handmade bowl

Attempt 2 — Nano Banana 2.1, 1K, 1:1, using the same prompt. A different person faces the camera, with more of the pottery studio visible.

Both outputs show the requested olive shirt, dark apron, and bowl. The different faces and poses show the variation possible with a text-only request; repeating the prompt did not preserve a person’s identity.

2K3 credits6 credits
4K4 credits8 credits

Only the 1K row has matching outputs here; the other rows are arithmetic from the published rates. Another completed variation adds to the budget even if you discard it. Technical failures are different: the site’s pricing page says failed images have their credits refunded.

Free access: Nano Banana credits and FLUX.2

On this site, Nano Banana always consumes credits, but those credits do not necessarily require a purchase. The pricing page advertises free daily credits after Google sign-in and access to premium models with credits. Whether your balance covers a particular Nano Banana request depends on your account’s current allowance, model, and size.

FLUX.2 is the separately labeled free model available without an account. Neither image above was generated with FLUX.2. Check your account’s current allowance instead of assuming a fixed number of free Nano Banana images.

Yes. Google lists Nano Banana 2 image generation across Gemini plan levels, subject to usage limits. Its help page also distinguishes Nano Banana 2 Lite with Flash-Lite and Nano Banana Pro redo access with a Google AI plan.

It may be possible with enough free credits after Google sign-in. Nano Banana still consumes credits, and the available allowance varies. FLUX.2 is the separate free model available without an account.
